Have you ever tried to pierce the ear , the ear grows red, swelling and the granulation occur?
Does the wound look like tumor-like tissue hyperplasia, spread to scars, and cause itching and pain?
• Scar tissue grows excessively, forming smooth, hard growths called keloids.
• They’re most commonly found on the chest, shoulders, earlobes, back and arms
1. Overgrowth of dense fibrous tissue that develops after healing of a skin injury
2. As Anabolic and Catabolic processes Not Able to achieve equilibrium during Healing Process
àExcessive fibrous tissue is produced
àExcess collagen is produced
àScar is elevated above the skin and remains hyperemic
Although keloids aren’t harmful to your health, they may create cosmetic concerns.
It may be tender, itchy, painful or sometimes produce a burning sensation.
1. Intralesional Steroid Injections
Steroid injections may be used to help flatten keloids; however, they can also make the flattened keloid redder by stimulating the formation of more superficial blood vessels. Over use of steroid injections may also lead to skin atrophy or depressions.
2. Traditional Surgery
Traditional surgery, removing the keloid scar, can result in a bigger keloid
3. Intralesional Excision + Radiotherapy
Radiotherapy has the risk of causing cancers and should be reserved only for difficult cases.
• Cryoshape is a special device used to flatten or remove keloids through cryotherapy.
• It consists of a probe connected to a tank of liquid nitrogen.
• Doctor uses the probe to administer the liquid nitrogen and destroy the keloid’s cells.
• Also with FDA-cleared and CE marked.
The Procedure
• A local anesthetic will be administered beforehand.
• The probe is then inserted into the keloid and liquid nitrogen is injected into it in order to freeze the keloid from the inside out.
• The liquid nitrogen induces frostbite, and the keloid becomes white and frozen.
• Depending on the size of the keloid, the treatment session can take between 10 and 60 minutes.
• Over the next few weeks, the frozen keloid will shrivel and fall off.
After care
• After the treatment, the treatment site will be slightly painful, redness and may occur the blister is normal.
• Minor oozing after the few days is normal, the redness, swelling will go away after 2 weeks
• The scar will expelled naturally, normally need 3-6 months.
• Shower would be allowed after the surgery.
• Clean the wound daily and apply the antibiotic cream which doctor prescribed.
The CryoShape’s major advantages are:
✓ Significant reduction in scar volume after one treatment
✓ Quick alleviation of itchiness, pain, discomfort and tenderness
✓ Almost no hypopigmentation
✓ The procedure consists of one needle poke (excluding local anesthetic), allowing the patient to walk out of the clinic immediately after the treatment
✓ Fast healing process, where minimal postoperative care of the wound is required
✓I n most cases (>97%) no scar recurrence is observed
The outcome of cyroshape treatment
• Over 97% of the cases performed to date, no scar recurrence was observed
•Most patients require only a single procedure to significantly reduce the size and shape of keloid or hypertrophic scars.
